Some stories are inspired by real life.

And some stories walk right into your life on four very fluffy feet and refuse to be anything other than a book.

This is Daisy’s story.

After losing our beloved Old English Sheepdog, Bob, in February 2024 after 13 wonderful years, our family wasn’t necessarily looking for another dog right away. But in April 2025, a shy, nervous 13-month-old Old English Sheepdog named Daisy came into our lives through the Old English Sheepdog Rescue of Washington.

She had a lot to learn.

And, as it turns out, so did we.

Daisy wasn’t the confident, carefree dog you might picture when you think of a giant, fluffy Old English Sheepdog. The world could be overwhelming for her. New places, new experiences, new people and even some of the ordinary things dogs are expected to know could feel like a lot.

But Daisy had something special.

She had a heart that wanted to trust.

Little by little, she began discovering that the world could be a safe place. That she could be brave. That she could explore. That she could make friends. And that she was finally home.

And somewhere along the way, Daisy’s journey started becoming a story.

Are You a Wolf? is a children’s picture book inspired by our real-life Daisy and the adventures, fears, funny moments, and little victories that have made her such a special part of our family.

It’s a story about a very big, very fluffy dog discovering the world around her and learning that sometimes courage doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid.

Sometimes courage is simply taking one more step.

Sometimes it’s lying down beside someone who is scared because you remember what that feels like.

And sometimes, it’s realizing that the thing you were afraid of might not be so scary after all.

I’ve been working behind the scenes to bring Daisy’s story to life, and seeing these illustrations come together has made this feel very, very real.

So, consider this your first little peek.
