Make Your Own Magic: Aurora-Inspired Seashell Craft

Summer may be winding down, but the magic isn’t over just yet.

As much as, I do love Fall…I’m holding on to these last golden weeks of sunshine and kiddo energy. And what better way to do that than through a little beachy, sparkly magic…Aurora style.

In Aurora’s Beach Adventure, the ocean brings out teamwork, wonder, and just the right sprinkle of magic. Inspired by the story, we’ve been getting creative with simple seaside crafts that celebrate imagination and togetherness (and, bonus, keep little hands busy in the best way).

🐚 Aurora’s Magical Seashell Wands or Necklaces

This craft is all about turning nature (or a trip to the craft store) into something enchanting.

What You’ll Need:

Real or faux seashells

Paint, markers, glitter, beads, ribbon or stickers

Twine or yarn (for necklaces)

Wooden dowels or chopsticks (for wands)

Hot glue (adults, this one’s on you)

Imagination 🌟

Option 1: Magical Beach Wands

Glue seashells onto wooden dowel or chopsticks, add a touch of glitter, pearls or ribbon, and let your kids create a “good energy spell” or make up a little wish to send out to the universe. It’s silly and sweet and sparks so much joy.

Option 2: Seashell Necklaces

Thread twine through a hole in the shell or wrap and glue the top of the shell securely, then decorate however your heart desires. Add a bit of flare with glitter, beads, or ribbon. These are perfect for pretend ocean play or even a special treasure from the summer.

In the book, Aurora discovers that the beach holds more than just sand and waves, it’s full of kindness, connection, and a little animal magic. These crafts are a way to bring that spirit home and let your child step into that world. I like to ask them questions like:

“What kind of magic would your wand do?” “If your shell could talk, what would it say?” It’s fun watching their imagination bloom.

Kindness is the magic we carry, wherever we go.

Crafting like this helps us slow down, connect, and remember that summer isn’t about how many trips we take but about the little memories we create with our kids.

And maybe, just maybe, a seashell wand can remind us to carry that magic into the school year too.

Let me know if you try this with your kids or share your own summer magic moment.
