Halloween Must-Dos

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year! Time for costumes and trick or treating but let’s not forget Arts & Crafts, Baking, and Family Adventures! Oh the possibilities…

If your kids are anything like mine, as soon as the word “crafts” is mentioned in my house, my boys are running to the crafting table. Halloween and Fall Season is fabulous for making inexpensive crafts. With just a few items, you can have an afternoon of fun and memories! So check out these crafts and start making memories with your kiddos!

Monster Masks

You’ll need:

Felt (Variety of colors)

Pom Poms

Googly Eyes

Glitter Glue or Puff Paint

Sequins

Feathers

Scissors

Buttons, bow ties, fur, etc.

Elmer’s Glue

Directions:

Cut felt out into a mask shape to fit your child’s face. One of my boys wanted cat ears and the other wanted a funky monster. Then, let their creativity run wild. Glue on all the items to the felt. Use puff paint or glitter glue to accent. Let dry over night.

Hand Print Spiders

You’ll need:

Construction paper

Googly Eyes

Glitter glue

Elmer’s Glue

Crayons

Scissors

Directions:

Fold a piece of black construction paper in half then fold in half again. On the fold of the paper, place child’s fingers on paper. Trace your child’s hand or let them trace their own. Cut out outline. Will make two spiders.

Glue spiders onto page. Draw web with crayons. Then, let them glue eyes onto spiders and accent with glitter glue.

If you are sending out Halloween cards like we do every year, you can use this idea and have your kids personalize each Halloween card with their Hand Print Spiders glued inside each card.

And for my finally craft idea, Hand Print Black Cats. My kiddos love cats so this craft was a must!

Hand Print Black Cats

You’ll need:

Black Construction Paper

Googly Eyes

Crayons

Elmer’s Glue

Scissors

Directions:

On a piece of black construction paper, trace your child’s hand on the paper or have them trace their own hand. Cut out hand outline. This will be your cat’s body. The thumb is the cats tail and the fingers are the cat’s legs. Cut out cat head. Glue cat head to body. Glue on Googly Eyes. With crayons, draw the cat’s nose, mouth, and whiskers.

Halloween is just not complete without checking out at least one pumpkin patch and picking out the perfect pumpkin.

And of course, once you have picked out your perfect pumpkin, it’s carving time!

But what to do once you’ve taken all the pulp and seeds out of the pumpkin? Well make Bacon Roasted Pumpkin Seeds of course! We just made our first batch of the season tonight and man oh man are they delicious! Just a warning, once you start eating them, it’s hard to stop!

And finally, to finish off a fun day of baking, crafting, and carving pumpkins, nothing is better than piling up together on the couch for a Halloween Movie with Toddler “Popcorn.” Some is our favorite Halloween movies are “Hocus Pocus,” “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” and “Curious George: Boofest.” We would love to hear your favorite Halloween Movie, please comment below!
